Couple Photo Session in the Pyrenees

A Romantic Couple Session in a Mountain Lake in the Pyrenees

Have you ever dreamed of having a romantic photo session in the mountains? If so, you’re not alone. Many couples love the idea of capturing their love story in a stunning natural setting. But how do you make it happen? How do you plan, prepare, and execute a successful couple photo session in the Pyrenees? That’s what I’m going to share with you today. As a professional wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of photographing many couples in different locations around the world. But one of my favorite places to shoot is the Pyrenees, the mountain range that forms a natural border between France and Spain.

The Pyrenees are a photographer’s paradise. They offer breathtaking views, diverse landscapes, and amazing light. Whether you want to shoot in a forest, a lake, a meadow, or a peak, you can find it in the Pyrenees. And the best part is that you don’t need to be an expert hiker or climber to access these beautiful spots. There are many trails and roads that can take you to some of the most scenic places in the region. One of these places is Pradeilles Lake, a hidden gem that I discovered recently. Pradeilles Lake is a small mountain lake located in the French side of the Pyrenees, near the town of Font-Romeu. It’s surrounded by pine trees and rocky slopes, and it reflects the sky and the clouds like a mirror. It’s a perfect spot for a couple photo session, especially at sunset.

That’s why I chose this location for my latest shoot with Lluís and Noelia, a lovely couple who wanted to celebrate their first anniversary with a special photo session. They wanted to recreate their wedding day by wearing the same outfits they wore on their big day: a white wedding dress for Noelia and a blue suit for Lluís.

We first took a bus that drove us to Bulloses Lake, another beautiful lake in the area. From there, we had a one-hour walk to Pradeilles Lake, following a well-marked trail. The walk was not too difficult, but it was challenging for Lluís and Noelia, who had to wear their wedding clothes and shoes. But they didn’t mind. They were excited and happy to be there, and they enjoyed every moment of the adventure. They were also very cooperative and enthusiastic during the shoot. They followed my directions and suggestions, but they also added their own personality and style to the poses.

We started shooting around 6 pm, when the sun was still high in the sky. We tried different poses and angles, from close-ups to wide shots, from candid moments to posed ones. I wanted to capture their emotions and expressions, as well as their connection and chemistry. We also wanted to show off their outfits and how they matched with the environment. It’s not every day that you get to dress up in wedding outfits at above 2000 meters.

As the sun started to go down, we moved to different spots around the lake to catch different perspectives and colors. The light became softer and warmer, creating a magical atmosphere. We also took photos inside the forest. We ended the session just after sunset, when the sky turned into a beautiful palette of pink and purple hues. We almost missed the last bus back from where we parked our cars, but we made it just in time! We were tired but satisfied with the results.

Lluís and Noelia were thrilled with their photos. They said they had an amazing experience and that they felt like they were living their wedding day again. They also said they loved how I captured their personalities and their love for each other. I was very happy with their feedback and with how the photos turned out. I think they reflect their essence as a couple: adventurous, fun-loving, and romantic. Here’s what they wrote about the photo session:

“Xavi is a great professional, dedicated and with a lot of talent. The result he presented us was impeccable. 100% recommendable!”
