A Romantic Couple Session in Peratallada, l’Empordà

If you are looking for a unique and romantic location for your pre-wedding photo session, you should consider Peratallada, a medieval town in l’Empordà, near Girona. This charming village, declared a historical and artistic site, is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved examples of medieval architecture in Catalonia. Its name is derived from pedra tallada, meaning 'carved stone', and you can see why when you walk along its narrow and winding streets, surrounded by stone houses, arches and walls. Peratallada is also surrounded by nature, with fields, forests and hills that offer stunning views and backgrounds for your photos.

That’s exactly what we did with this lovely couple, who wanted to capture their love story in a magical setting. They met in college and fell in love at first sight. They share a passion for history, art and culture, so they chose Peratallada as their destination for their pre-wedding photo session. They told me that they felt like they were traveling back in time and living a fairy tale.

We started the photo session in the village, exploring its corners and discovering its history. We visited the castle, the palace, the church and the tower of homage, all dating back to the 10th-14th centuries. We also enjoyed the atmosphere of the village, with its craft shops, restaurants and cafes. The light was perfect, soft and warm, creating a cozy and romantic mood. They were very natural and comfortable in front of the camera, showing their affection and happiness.

After the village, we moved to the countryside, where we found a rapeseed field in full bloom. The yellow flowers contrasted beautifully with the blue sky and the green hills. The couple had fun running and playing among the flowers, showing their natural and spontaneous side. We took advantage of the golden hour to capture some stunning shots of them with the sun setting behind them. The session ended after sunset, with a starry sky and a full moon that illuminated their faces and smiles.

I had a wonderful time with this couple, who trusted us to immortalize their love in this amazing place. I hope you enjoy their photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Here are some tips for other couples who want to have a similar photo session:

  • Choose a location that reflects your personality and interests. Peratallada is perfect for history lovers, but you can also find other beautiful places in Catalonia or elsewhere that suit your style.

  • Plan ahead and check the weather forecast. Spring is a great season to visit Peratallada because of the flowers and the mild temperature, but you should also be prepared for rain or wind. Bring some umbrellas or jackets just in case.

  • Have fun and be yourself. Don’t worry too much about posing or looking perfect. The best photos are those that capture your genuine emotions and interactions. Just enjoy the moment!
