Couple Photo Session in the Mountains

A Romantic Couple Session in the Pyrenees mountains

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a wedding photographer is getting to know the couples I work with and capturing their love story in a unique way. That’s why I love doing prewedding photo sessions, where I can spend more time with them and create some beautiful memories before their big day.

In this blog post, I want to share with you one of my favorite prewedding photo sessions I’ve ever done: a couple photo session in the mountains. This was a special request from the couple, who wanted to take their photos in the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park, a stunning natural area between the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees in Catalonia. This place is very special for them, as they have spent many weekends hiking and camping there.

The photo session started in the morning and ended after sunset. We drove to different spots around the mountain range, looking for the best views and light conditions. The scenery was breathtaking: green valleys, rocky peaks, blue skies, and fluffy clouds. The couple was amazing: they were relaxed, happy, and natural. They didn’t need much direction from me, as they were just enjoying each other’s company and having fun.

Some of the highlights of the session were:

  • Starting at the Mirador de la Trava, a viewpoint that offers impressive views of the highest peaks of the Pyrenees. The couple enjoyed the scenery and the contrast between the green mountains and the red soil. The red tone is due to the presence of iron oxide in the rocks, which gives them a rusty appearance. The couple posed on the edge of the cliff, holding each other and looking at the horizon. They also played with some rocks and flowers, showing their playful side.

  • Having lunch at Josa del Cadí, a little mountain village with stone houses and a Romanesque church. We found a cozy restaurant where we had some delicious local dishes, such as trinxat (a potato and cabbage cake) and “arròs de muntanya”, a rice dish with rabbit, chicken, pork, and vegetables. The couple told me more about their relationship and their wedding plans.

  • Riding their motorbikes along the roads of the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park, which offer spectacular views of the mountains and valleys. The couple love motorbikes and they wanted to include them in their photo session. They wore leather jackets and helmets and looked like movie stars. We stopped at some scenic spots where they parked their motorbikes and posed with them.

  • They also brought their dog, a beautiful galgo, who joined them in some of the photos. The dog was very friendly and obedient, and seemed to enjoy the adventure as much as the couple.

  • Taking photos at the Pedraforca right after sunset, one of the most emblematic and recognizable mountains in Catalonia. Its name means “forked stone” because of its two peaks separated by a gap. We climbed to a viewpoint where we could see the whole mountain and its surroundings. We arrived just in time to see the sun dip behind the mountains, painting the sky with orange and pink hues.

I’m really happy with how the photos turned out. They reflect the love and joy of this wonderful couple, as well as the beauty and diversity of this amazing natural park. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
